Published on 27-02-2019 by Child Friendly Villas Direct

The Vendée is known for being one of the sunniest areas in France, making it the ideal holiday destination for sun-seekers who don’t want to travel too far outside the UK. The Vendée has a lot to offer, particularly for families, with numerous activity parks and day trips to keep everyone entertained. Read our the Vendée travel guide for top tips on what you can do to experience a holiday to remember in this beautiful destination.

Activities for the Whole Family

The Puy du Fou Theme Park

There are numerous activity centres and theme parks throughout the Vendée which the whole family can enjoy. The Puy du Fou Theme Park is a very popular theme park based in the north of the Vendée. At this theme park they incorporate fun with history, to take you back in time through different ages, exploring significant epic historical events. From Gladiators to Napoleon’s Army the rides, shows, parks and mazes are not to be missed at this multi award winning park!

The O’Gliss Water Park and Indian Forest Adventure Park

The O’Gliss Water Park is one of France’s largest water parks. This park has all the water rides you could imagine including a lazy river, rapids and even a water play area designed for much younger children. Situated just around the corner is the Indian Forest where adventure is guaranteed! Zip lines, paint balling, tree climbing and even duelling in an arena are just a few activities you can take part in. In addition, if you buy a ticket for both parks you can benefit from a reduced rate.

The Surrounding Scenery

The Vendée Beaches

There is a long list of beaches in the Vendée and all are equally stunning. With over 3,000 hours of sun a year, we are confident you will be wanting to spend the majority of the time soaking it up. The beaches differ depending on the landscape, if you are seeking sandy beaches then we would recommend either Les Conches or La Terrière, both these beaches are known for their popularity with surfers and body boarders. Water sports in general are in abundance on the beaches of the Vendée and are a great source of entertainment for the entire family. If you would prefer to do a bit of exploring whilst at the beach, beaches such as St Vincent are great for fossil hunting and searching for crabs.

If you and your family that loves to get out and about on your bikes, you may well be familiar with the cycle tracks of the Vendée, as they have the largest network cycle track in France. Cycling is a great way to see the stunning scenery within the providence including coastal cliffs, charming towns, sand dunes and wetlands. 150 kilometres out of the 220 kilometres track is dedicated just to cyclists and free from other traffic, so you don’t need to worry when cycling with young riders.
